Hi Bob,I have a couple friend that have a couple of the Russian SKS rifle they actually paid less than 45 did, back in the day you could get either Russian or Chinese for $79 to $89 easy, hate I missed out on that.
My Unissued Yugo ran me about $149 and my NIB Chinese factory /26\ hit me up for $200 didn't mind paying that for it though being it was still in the box and never fired. There still importing the Russians up in Canada for about the price of a nice Chinese here along with some of the Chinese M14 knockoffs. The Russians is the grandfather of the SKS but I like both of mine just as good, they shoot just as well, which is all that matters to me. Would still be nice to own one though.
Do you know if they changed the import laws regarding SKS's? I seem to remember hearing something about that. If you can find a Yugo around here, it's usually quite beat up and sells from $250-300. I've never seen a Russian for under $500 off the shelf, and they are in horrible shape. Stocks are broken and patched, steel is painted, part numbers don't match. All the Yugos I've seen are refurbished. That's great that you have an unused Yugo. Consider sending me a photo to post, preferably of you holding it ;)
